Happy Tuesday! This is the final post for my Valentine’s Day/Chinese New Year Red blog series. If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you’ve probably noticed the never-ending red color theme, lol. 🙂 Red in the western world is often associated with “Love”. However, for the Chinese, it also represents “Good Luck”. So I guess since I’m Chinese, I’ve been trying to stretch out my luck as much as I can. :p
In today’s post, I’m wearing this beautiful allover lace dress from French Connection (with all the design details I absolutely adore!). The cold-shoulder design detail has been super popular since last year, but has been listed on many websites as being part of the “not to wear” in 2018. To me, as long as a piece of clothing inspires me and looks good, I will wear it. I often don’t follow the masses and just wear whatever that truly inspires me. 🙂
This dress is perfect for a date night or for just a girl’s night out. The ruffles around the neckline, shoulder, and sleeves make it super feminine, and with it’s shorter length, is fun and sexy. You can choose to wear it with a cute pair of heels for a dressier look, or for a more casual look, you can wear a pair of thigh-high lacing boots (like the ones here from Guess). I was going for a nice casual PM look so I added a corset belt from Bebe and threw on a baker boy cap from H&M.
TIP: Whenever you want to wear a bit more formal dress during the day without feeling over-dressed, simply put on a pair of boots to tone down the formal feel of the outfit. Boots will give the dress a more casual feel.
Do you like the way I revamped the look and the feel of this dress? Let me know in the comments below!
Have a great day and I’ll see you in my next (non-red, haha) blog post!
Always with LOVE,
