Did someone say leopard prints? 🙂 This is probably one of my favorite prints at all time, and I think I’m not alone on this one! I’ve been slowly collecting items in leopard print throughout the years, so creating this blog post was pretty easy. I’m not sure why I didn’t write about it earlier, but it’s never too late, right?!
For the past 10 years, leopard prints didn’t receive as much attention as it should have until just this winter. Since then, we’ve seen leopard prints everywhere (or maybe I just have, since I love it so much)! Regardless, I think leopard print is a classic print which will never go out of style. So if you’re not currently a leopard print kind-of-girl, hopefully this post will inspire you to perhaps add one or two leopard print items to your wardrobe. 😉
When it comes to prints (especially leopard prints), I usually say to keep it simple so it doesn’t look too busy. However, when I was styling for this shoot, I really liked the look of the two different pieces of leopard prints together (as pictured in the look above). Yes – it’s busy, but not cluttered or loud in a bad way. If this is a look you want to experiment with also, just keep in mind the leopard prints need to be two different sizes. For example, notice how the leopard print on my dress is much larger than the one on the jacket, and the color is a bit more muted. This way, the two prints aren’t fighting against each other and instead, actually kind of helping each other stand out more.
To complete the look, I paired this outfit with thigh-high boots to give it a little bit of extra spice…I just think it looks sexier this way! 🙂
NEXT OUTFIT: If you love jumpsuits like me, then maybe this second look is for you! Yes, your eyes aren’t deceiving you…it an all over leopard print jumpsuit! Hehe…I just love jumpsuits because they are super easy to wear. You just need to step into it and voila, you are ready to go! No fussing about what pants should you wear with the top etc, etc 😉
The only thing that I recommend wearing when it comes to a leopard print jumpsuit, is a solid colored belt to break up the pattern. The jumpsuit I’m wearing in the picture above has an elastic waist, so I put on a black belt to cover the elastic casing and to define my waist. For your shoes, you can wear a pair of simple pumps, flats, or a pair of black boots like what I did here.
To me, the boots give the outfit more of an urban feel, and they go well with the fringed suede jacket.
THIRD LOOK: Cardigans are something we all wear when it’s cold. Not only do they keep us warm, but they can also make us look very stylish. For this outfit, I chose to wear a turtleneck sweater dress with a cardigan over it to give it that classic look (one that will never go out of style).
To give this outfit a little more pop, I simply added a belt. Wearing a belt over a long cardigan not only revives the traditional look, but it also breaks up the leopard printed cardigan. A long cardigan can sometimes make your legs look shorter, so adding a belt can help resolve this potential issue as well. Lastly, wearing a belt over outerwear is the current trend, as we’ve seen many magazine tears and influencers wearing belts over suit jackets these days.
As for what shoes to wear – you can wear knee-high boots for a more classy, elegant look, or ankle boots (like I did here) for an edgier feel!
Finally, I think every woman should at least own one dress in leopard print. It’s sexy, elegant, and classy all at the same time. For a date night look, you can wear a leopard print dress with a sequin jacket like I did here (above). This look is a lot dressier for sure, but not over the top. It will make you look stunning without feeling overdressed.
I like it because it’s very versatile and you can wear it on many different occasions. Wear it with a pair of black pumps to keep it fancy and classy, or with a pair of knee-high boots (like how I wore above) for a less formal look. The boots definitely tone down the whole look, but it still appears very elegant.
That’s it!!! 🙂 Let me know what you think about these leopard print outfits and breakdowns in the comments below. Or, let me know how you like to style your outfits with leopard prints!
