4 Ways To Wear Your Classic Stripes This Summer

4 Ways To Wear Your Classic Stripes This Summer

Summer is such a fun season! Thanks to the extra vitamin D, we feel more energetic and happy, but Summer isn’t Summer without stripes! Stripes have been a very popular pattern since last summer, just like plaid was for the Fall. Although there are a ton of ways stripes can be worn, I’ll share 4 looks in this post that will hopefully inspire you to stripe it up this summer as well!

Classic Stripes With Solids
Stripes are a classic pattern so they will never go out of style. Therefore, all you need to update a classic piece of clothing is, styling. If you have a long striped shirt similar to this one, simply add a belt and voila, you have your outfit! You can wear a pair of white solid shorts on the bottom like I did here, or white skinny jeans/capris on cooler days. Super simple, right? Who said styling has to be difficult??? 😉

Classic Stripe & Floral Combo
Yes, you read it right – floral with stripes combo! It’s a fun way to style and perfect for the summer. The trick to getting these 2 patterns to work though is choosing the right print combo. The general rule of thumb is: both the stripes and the floral print have to be more muted; less loud. For example, the white striped pants I’m wearing here are very plain with thin stripes only, and the floral printed blouse is very summery, but not too loud. It’s a fun way to change up the traditional classic stripe pants look, yet still office or work appropriate.

Classic stripe and geo combo
If floral isn’t your thing but you like the print combo look, I got you covered. 🙂 You can replace the floral print with something a little more conservative, like I did here with this cute little polka dot blouse. However, when matching stripes with geo prints, keep in mind that the focus should be on the stripes. This means that the striped clothing piece should stand out more than the geo printed piece. That’s why I chose these black shorts with thin white stripes because they stand out more against the white blouse with little black polka dots. Notice that both pieces are in black and white (limit the outfit only to two different colors, so they don’t fight for attention) and the polka dot blouse is mostly white (less attention-grabbing than the black striped shorts). If you break it down like that, it makes it a lot easier. This can be a great fun weekend look!

P.S. you can wear a pair of flats with these first 3 outfits for a more casual feel.

Classic stripe and lace combo
This is probably my favorite stripe outfit combo! It’s definitely more dresser, which makes it perfect for girls night out, date night, or any other special occasion. Since the white lace top is in a solid color, you can be pretty much wearing any stripes you want on the bottom. I chose to go with a pair of bolder striped pants to make more of a statement. And to make the outfit pop even more, I accessorized it with a wide white belt and a pair of white pumps. This is a very crispy chic look that will definitely make you stand out from the crowd!
